Packaging

We have done our best to source the most sustainable materials possible for our branding and packaging in addition to our fabric materials. This means almost everything is recyclable, reusable, made from recycled materials, or biodegradable. However, there are still areas where we can improve. As we evolve things will change as we are able to source better and more eco-friendly options. We also try to support other small businesses when possible. Listed below are the materials we are currently using.

 

Care Tags

Our care labels are made out of 100% recycled Satin. I can't tell you how long it took to find these made out of a recycled material and how happy it made me when I finally did!

Shipping Boxes

We are super excited about our shipping boxes! They are:

  • 100% post-consumer and post-industrial content
  • Chain of Custody certified by the Forest Stewardship Council
  • Fully recyclable and biodegradable
  • Absolutely NO virgin fiber content
  • Made in the USA

Packaging Tape

We use Kraft paper tape to seal your packages. They are made with a renewable paper backing, interwoven fiberglass threads, and a water-activated, high-performing corn starch adhesive. They also outperform plastic tape as plastic tape may require several strips over the same seal to provide the same holding power of just one strip of paper tape. They are:

  • Renewable and biodegradable plant-derived adhesive & backing
  • Water-activated corn starch adhesive
  • Reinforced for added strength
  • Recyclable
  • Made in the USA!

Flap & Seal Bags

These are the poly bags we use to ship your items in to protect them from weather damage and keep them dust free. They are:

  • Made out of 100% recycled content
  • Has a resealable adhesive strip so you can reuse them
  • Recyclable
  • Made in the USA 
Please note that they are not recyclable in single stream recycling. They are a #4 plastic and should be recycled with grocery bags. We would like to use plant based poly bags in the future so that they are biodegradable. However, they are surprisingly hard to source in the U.S. and currently cost prohibitive. At the low quantity we need they are almost three times the cost of our current bags. And, to get a comparable price the quantity we would need to order is way too much for us. But, we hope to be able to source those soon!

    Tissue Paper

    We use Green Way® Color Tissue the only true 100% recycled sheet made in the USA. It is also made out of 100% Post Industrial Recycled Fibers. 

    Thank You Cards

    The paper we use for our thank you cards are handmade using 100% cotton rag recycled material. Cotton rag is cotton sourced from remnants rather than raw material. This means a material that would normally be thrown out is reused and repurposed, a win in our book! They are beautifully made, naturally dyed, and biodegradable.

    Business Cards

    Our business cards are made from 100% recycled cotton. This material comes from leftover cotton from t-shirt production. Just like our thank you cards, they are made from a material that is traditionally discarded. Old tees and no trees! What could be better?

    Materials + Care Cards

    These are cards we include in your package with information about the material(s) of your order and how to care for it. The paper is made out of 100% recycled materials. 

     

    In the interest of full transparency, there are two main things we are still trying to source more sustainable materials for: fabric brand labels, and hang tags. One large obstacle we are facing is that as a small business we need low minimums. This is often hard to find, especially with these two items. And, if there are more eco-friendly materials than what we are currently using, it is often because the minimum is too large for us to order. However, we are constantly researching and looking for ways we can do better. If you have any suggestions or recommendations we would love to hear from you! Thank You!
